Given the rise in online scams and malware attacks, Airtel has launched a new plan to provide ‘network level’ malware protection. Dubbed as ‘Secure Internet’ service, it is available for all Airtel Xstream Fiber customers, for a monthly subscription for Rs 99. With this plan, users will be able to block websites, enable Child Safe mode and also get real time protection against malware on all devices connected to the Airtel Xstream Fiber Wi-Fi connection.
How to activate Airtel ‘Secure Internet’ plan
The Airtel ‘Secure Internet’ plan can be activated or deactivated through the Airtel Thanks app. Airtel Xstream Fiber users will have to visit the ‘Explore’ section on the Airtel Thanks app and then go to Internet Security to activate the feature. The Airtel ‘Secure Internet’ plan subscription comes with a 30-day free trial of the service post which it is billed for.
“India saw a 300% spike in cyber-attacks during 2020 as per data compiled by CERT-In. Around 59 percent of Indian adults have been a victim of cybercrime in the past 12 months, according to the sixth annual Norton Cyber Safety Insights report,” said Airtel in a statement. With this new ‘Secure Internet’ plan, Airtel claims to offer better protection to internet users.
“We, at Airtel, are obsessed with making digital experiences for our customers better and safer through innovation. Work and children’s studies have all gone online with the pandemic. Along with the speed and reliability of broadband, security is now a key requirement for customers. Secure Internet is an easy to activate and highly effective solution for making the internet safer for our customers,” said Shashwat Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, Bharti Airtel.
